Use a properties file to choose between development v.s. production environments

In LucidWorks, it is possible to create variations of Solr configuration files with the 'solrcore.properties' file.

To use the solrcore.properties feature, create a file called 'solrcore.properties' in Java properties format, and place it in the conf/ directory for your collection. In the solrconfig.xml file, you can use the property names as string substitutions. For example, you will find these lines:

<updateLog>
<str name="dir">${solr.data.dir:}</str>
</updateLog>

This means that if 'solr.data.dir' is defined in solrcore.properties, that will set the target data directory. You can use any property names you want, and can place string subtitutions anywhere in XML element text.
